Sources say that Brooks Koepka is the latest top golfer to leave the PGA Tour for the LIV Golf Series

Sources have told ESPN that Brooks Koepka is the latest golfer to leave the PGA Tour and join the LIV Golf Invitational Series. Koepka has won four majors and is the latest golfer to switch tours.

Koepka, who is 32 years old, is one of the most famous players to join the breakaway circuit, which is funded by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and led by two-time Open winner Greg Norman.

Sources say that LIV Golf will likely announce Koepka's addition in the next few days. Koepka, who is ranked 19th in the Official World Golf Ranking, is expected to play in the first LIV Golf event in the United States, which starts on June 30 at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland, Oregon.

The Telegraph of London was the first to report that Koepka would be leaving the PGA Tour on Tuesday.

Abraham Ancer, who is ranked 20th in the world, is also leaving the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, according to a source. Later on Tuesday, world No. 4 Collin Morikawa tweeted that he is "here to stay" on the PGA Tour and that "nothing has changed." This was in response to rumors that he was also planning to join LIV Golf.

Eight of the top 50 golfers in the world have now signed with LIV Golf. Bryson DeChambeau (30th) and Patrick Reed (38th) are also expected to play in the event in Portland.

The PGA Tour commissioner, Jay Monahan, has banned 17 players, including Dustin Johnson, who has won two majors, and Phil Mickelson, who has won six majors, for taking part in the first LIV Golf event outside of London two weeks ago. Monahan had said that tour players who played in future LIV Golf tournaments without a conflicting event release would get the same punishment.

Monahan is going to meet with the players at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, on Tuesday morning. The players advisory council for the PGA Tour was also meeting on Tuesday.

Koepka, who is 84th in the FedEx Cup standings, stayed in the Travelers Championship field even though he was not at the meeting at the TPC River Highlands.

Monahan will talk to the press on Wednesday.

In 2019, Koepka became the first player in history to win back-to-back major championships. He won the U.S. Open in 2017-18 and the PGA Championship in 2018-19.

Koepka competed in the LIV event in London with his longtime friend Johnson and his brother, Chase Koepka.

Koepka was the best player in the world for 47 weeks, but in recent months, he has been hurt in his back, hip, and wrist. Koepka has finished in the top 10 twice out of 15 starts, but he did not do well in the first three majors of the year. He did not make the cut at the Masters, tied for 55th at the PGA Championship, and tied for 55th at The Country Club outside Boston at the U.S. Open last week.

Last week, Koepka said that reporters who asked about LIV Golf were putting a "black cloud" over the U.S. Open.

He said, "I am at the U.S. Open." "I am ready to play in the U.S. Open, and I think it is kind of lame that everyone is making the tournament look bad. It is one of my most-loved things to do. I have no idea why you keep doing that. More people talk about [LIV Golf] the more legs you give it."

Ancer played at Oklahoma. He was a citizen of both Mexico and the United States. In August, he won the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational in Memphis. This was his first and only PGA Tour win. He also placed in the top 10 at the last two PGA Championships. Last month, he tied for ninth at Southern Hills.

Ancer dropped out of the U.S. Open last week at the last minute because he was sick. He is not on the field for the Travelers.

At the 2019 Presidents Cup in Melbourne, Australia, Ancer was one of the best things about the International Team. He was 3-1-1, and the only time he lost was in a singles match against Tiger Woods.
